When I first made a home for myself in my early twenties, I was a sage girl. Practically all my decor had some sort of sage-y color sprinkled into it. The color of the moment, this soft green hue took over everything from dishes and furniture to small adornments in my home.
In 2009, Jessica Colaluca hit the design color scene with her collection of gathered hues called, Design Seeds®. And what a game changer for those of us who do not excel in cohesively blending colors! This is the perfect example of my chosen color scheme in my 20s:
Now a vibrant forty, my desire for decor has swayed over into the blues. Navy, indigo, light blue, robins egg, ocean blue… But the matchy-matchy in me has flown the coop, eager to pull in various colors and materials.
On the cusp of moving into a new home, I am intent on having an overall flow through my home that gently whispers, “I’ve got it together.”
Pier 1 must have a direct line to my design heart’s desires because the moment I laid eyes on this dining room scene, my mind was made up:
Oh, the cornflower dining chair is what wooed me at first and as I took in the rest of the picture, I saw other elements that my new home and some of my existing decor already embodied!
#1 – My dining room table is the exact mahogany.
#2 – The new house has lovely hardwood flooring throughout the first floor.
#3 – The darkest shade in the pendent over the table is the color of the honey trim throughout the house.
The style of this setting also had me swooning – not too casual but not too formal.
Dining room – DONE.
If you follow me on Facebook, you already know that I adore cozy corners. Places to read and congregate sans screens, the banquette is a piece of furniture I have been longing for.
Exploring the Pier 1 website, I also found similar chairs for what is now being called Elizabeth’s “Cozy Coffee Conversation Corner.” (sweet alliteration!)
To complete my “Conversation Corner” look, I need a banquette (or settee, whichever term you prefer). I do like the Magnolia Home Parlor White Settee from the Joanna Gaines Collection, however, it’s a tad too big for the space in my new kitchen.
Joanna, could you make a condensed version that seats two? Merci beaucoup!
I am SO excited for our new home! Twice the square footage of our sweet space currently (a modest 900 square feet), this 2-story home has been diligently cared for and updated for almost 100 years. Stay tuned on Facebook and Instagram as we move into our new home next month! EEEEEEEEEK!
