3 things to do instead of shop on Black Friday

After working in retail, I simply can’t get into shopping Black Friday. The crowds, the bad manners, the poor employees working when they would rather be hanging with their own friends and families… It’s a scam and an unnecessary sense of urgency to get supposed deals on things we do not really need. Do anything the day after thanksgiving, pluck your eyebrows or Nair something – just resist joining the masses. Here are 3 things you should do instead of leaving the house on Black Friday:

I prefer a novel with paper pages but because I am promoting not leaving the house on Black Friday, the Kindle version of these books will have to do. Light a fire or grab a cup of hot cocoa and try one of these firsts. See if you can put your e-book down…

A Game of Thrones, A Song of Ice and Fire – Kindle Edition

Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith – Kindle Edition

Solitary: A Novel, Solitary Tales Series by Travis Thrasher – Kindle Edition

The Coroner’s Lunch, A Dr. Siri Paiboun Mysteries by Colin Cotterill – Kindle Edition

2. Play with your leftoverswhipped-cranberry-butter-recipe

Leftovers seem to be getting more excitement than the actual Thanksgiving meal lately. You’ve got all the ingredients, so why not resist the microwave and spice up your plate!

Bacon wrapped stuffing bites (From Bev Cooks on Tablespoon)

Apple Cranberry Turkey Salad on King’s Hawaiian rolls (From Inside BruCru Life)

Whipped cranberry butter (Recipe and image from Good Life Eats)

Leftover Thanksgiving Turkey Pesto Panini (From Damn Delicious)

3. If you must shop, do it on Etsy

Etsy is becoming my go to for my online time suck preference more than Pinterest lately. I have never been disappointed in my purchases and when I can’t get to my favorite local boutique, I shop small business online. These establishments have been catching my eye lately…
